The First Reform

Tune: The First Noel

At the first reform, Bob Hawke did say
You’ll be lean and efficient at the end of the day.
You’ll learn all the skills for everyone’s job
So you’ll have to compete with the rest of the mob.

Chorus:    Reform, reform, reform, reform
We will keep at it till change is the norm.

At the next reform, Paul Keating did say
There’s just too much dead wood collecting its pay.
We’ll change the act, to sack you at will,
And if you think that’s unfair we’ll send you the bill.

Chorus

At the next reform, Peter Reith did say,
Your department will choose what you get in your pay.
You can bargain if you like, we think that’s quite fair,
But don’t raise your hopes ‘cos you haven’t a prayer.

Chorus

Since the last reform, there’s no more to say
‘Cos we don’t now exist in a meaningful way.
We’ve been outsourced, privatised and dismissed,
And the call centres hang up on those that we’ve missed.

Chorus
