The Young Turk

Tune: The Vicar of Bray

When first I came degree in hand
To be a Public Servant,
At once I took a strident stand
To hasten my preferment.
A massive change was my platform,
A service regenerated,
I preached revolution not reform
And my bosses denigrated.

Chorus:    This is the rule for each young Turk
                   To which we are devoted,
There are the ones that do the work
                   And those that get promoted.

But soon I found that’s not the thing,
Buzz words replaced the slogans,
I learned to treat the boss as king
And mingle with the shoguns.
And in a team it’s quite an art
To make the right impression,
To push ideas did not look smart,
So I just chaired the session.

Chorus

There is no task however small
I have myself completed,
My rapid rise has left them all
To others delegated.
Now at the top where being seen
With ideas is essential,
Consultants are all very keen
And act so deferential.

Chorus
