Viral Mantra

Virus O Virus O Virus
Covid Covid Covid
Omnipresent, omnivorous, omnipotent,
Instant answer to traffic congestion and air pollution,
Hermitís delight and cruise ship jailer.
Invisible, invidious, infectious,
Not even life,
Just a scrap of RNA wearing a lumpy protein coat
That takes over a living cell to reproduce,
A parasite without the grace to offer benefits in return,
Or the brains to know that killing your host is a bad idea.
Conspiracy theorists say itís a Chinese plot
To bring down the Western economies,
But isnít it more likely that itís our own benevolent God
Having yet another go at getting rid of his big mistake
Not realising that we donít need his help any more.
Empty streets, empty shelves,
Small isnít always beautiful,
But it sure packs a punch.
Parasite O Parasite O Parasite
Panic Panic Panic.
